Video: The Sesame Street send-up of Lord of the Rings is just great

One dessert to rule them all…

One dessert to rule them all…

Like all of the Sesame Street send-ups, you don’t have to be a fan of the material they’re taking the piss out of to enjoy it.

Just in time for the release of the Hobbit sequel, The Desolation of Smaug, Sesame Street have come out with the latest in a long line of brilliant parodies of popular movies and TV shows, with Tolkien’s masterpiece coming under the spotlight this time around.

As was the case with ‘The Hungry Games’, the Cookie Monster is the star of the show in ‘Lord of the Crumbs’ as he goes in search of the powerful recipe for a dessert that is unimaginably sweet and delicious (a cookie, surprise, surprise) in order to bake it in the fires of Mount Crumb.

Unlike the Lord of the Rings films, the Lord of the Crumbs lasts for a very watchable five minutes rather than rumbling on for ten hours and the search for the recipe is a lot less complicated than it was for Frodo and company in Middle Earth.

As far as excellent movie parodies goes, this one takes the biscuit.
