Video: This clip from Belgium shows the dangers of blindly cutting across motorway lanes

This is quite possibly the most horrific car crash that we’ve ever seen… and that’s saying something.

The following clip was recorded on the E40 motorway in Belgium between Ghent and Bruges and it shows us the dangers of crossing lanes at speed without fully knowing what’s ahead.

The driver of the light blue Ford Focus attempts to enter the far right lane in order to turn off at the exit for Aalter, however, due to a heavy flow of HGVs the driver didn’t see the traffic jam forming in the exit lane.

Unfortunately, the driver didn’t realise their upcoming predicament until it was too late and rear-ended the large truck that had come to a stop in the exit lane. This then pushed the Focus back into the path of the main motorway traffic and it too was rear-ended.

The driver was critically injured in the incident, but luckily survived the absolutely horrific smash. They can certainly count themselves lucky to be driving alone in a left hand drive car, as if they had passengers or if they were sitting on the right, the outcome would have definitely been a lot worse.
