VIDEO: This is what ‘outdoor swimming pool’ means in Ireland

Carl Kinsella

A leisurely swim.

We can only imagine how cold the waters of Menlough, Co. Galway must have been this morning as Jamie Connolly went for a swim in the lake that had been positively engorged by the rains of this weekend’s storm.

Much has been said about the dangers of swimming in the midst of the floods, but it’s fair to say Jamie found himself some very calm waters in which to establish his outdoor swimming pool.

How he managed to avoid hypothermia is another question altogether.
