Video: Two BASE jumpers break world record after incredible jump from the Burj Khalifa in Dubai

As if the world’s tallest building wasn’t tall enough, they had to go and build a special platform on top of it to make the world-record BASE jump an even more terrifying prospect. Yikes.

Credit to soul flyers Fred Fugen and Vince Reffet; those French fellas certainly have a lot of balls and are braver men than we are. Although they’ve done countless BASE jumps in their careers up to this point, Fred and Vince literally reached new heights earlier this week when jumping off the top of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, which, of course, is the world’s tallest building.

That isn’t even doing justice to Fred and Vince’s achievements as not only did they jump from the top of the 2,717 foot skyscraper, they did so from a special platform located an extra 500 feet from the top, thereby setting a new world record and going one better than the daredevils who have jumped from the structure in the past.

Sponsored by Skydive Dubai to do the jump, Fred and Vince took in the breath-taking view from the top of the building for barely a second before embarking on their truly spectacular leap, but having co-ordinated their descent in expert fashion, it wasn’t long before they were landing as softly as a feather on the ground below.

Honestly, we think we were more terrified watching that than the two lads were doing it and congratulations to both of them on a tremendous achievement.

Sensational stuff.
