VIDEO: Two dogs welcoming their owner home from hospital will melt your heart

Carl Kinsella

You’ll want to get the tissues ready.

Many of us take it for granted that we can spend Christmastime at home with the ones we love. Things are not so simple for Lauren from Passage West, Co. Cork.

Lauren, 25, is in full intestinal failure, meaning that she needs to be fed through a Hickman Line in her chest 18 hours a day. This intensive treatment requires that she be kept in hospital at almost all times.

Much to the delight of her family, Lauren was able to come home for a few hours this Christmas Day, but judging by this video her dad sent us – nobody was more delighted than Lauren’s dogs, Archer and Bailey.

Here’s a video of the dogs welcoming her home, and it will absolutely melt your heart.

Lauren’s dad described her as ‘a great lady’ and ‘a true inspiration’. She had been in hospital for four months before her journey home today.

You can learn more about Lauren’s illness and her journey on her Facebook group, called ‘Stripes For Life, my Eds Journey.’
