Earlier on we were sent an alleged recording of an older Irish man from down the country explaining the origins of the popular Irish term of abuse ‘gowl.’
While we can’t say with any certainty that the man you’re about to hear is actually a leading etymologist who can clarify the official meaning behind the word, we’re absolutely willing to buy his account of things for two reasons: one, it sounds reasonable enough and two, it’s absolutely hilarious.
