VIDEOS: This ‘half my age’ riddle is catching far too many people out

Maths is not their strong point

Tony Cuddihy

Introducing the ‘half my age’ riddle.

In fact, it’s less a riddle than a very, very easy mathematical question, but we’ve been sent two videos of people who just can’t get it.

The riddle goes: “I’m four-years-old, my brother’s half my age. How old will he be when I’m 100.”

This one came to us from Michael O’Regan in Australia, (and features some very strong language from the victim).

While also have this from Simon McMahon and his beleaguered mammy.

Something tells us we’ll be seeing a lot more of these. Maths teachers across the country will be disgusted.
