WATCH: 49 celebrities honour the 49 Victims of the Orlando tragedy in touching tribute

JOE

“These are their names and these are their stories”

The tragic shooting in Orlando on June 12 in which 49 people lost their lives affected people all over the world.

While it is difficult to think that such a large number of lives were taken by one man’s act of violence, it is also important to remember them each as individuals who all had bright futures.

In honour of those innocent people, a number of well-known faces have come together to remember them.

Lady Gaga, Gerard Butler, Cuba Gooding Jr and a host of other celebrities took part.

Those who took part in the video each name a victim, and explain where they worked and what type of person they were.

The video was produced by the Human Rights Campaign and directed by Glee’s Ryan Murphy.

Below the video, the description explains why the it was was made.

“For too long, a toxic combination of anti-LGBTQ hate and easy access to guns has put LGBTQ people at disproportionate risk of violence and murder.

“Forty-nine innocent people were killed at Pulse nightclub in Orlando simply because of who they were.

It’s on all of us to keep their memories alive, and to ensure part of their legacy becomes meaningful action to end hate violence. ”

The video ends with a powerful but harrowing truth that explains that since the massacre:

“Congress has voted down common-sense gun safety law four times.

Meanwhile, more than 200 bills targeting the LGBTQ community have been introduced in states this year.”
