WATCH: A shed fire in Cork produced a moment of hilarity from a Garda

Alan Loughnane

We absolutely applaud his effort, but it was never going to work…

Owen Twomey in Cork recently captured this footage of a fire in the back garden of his neighbour’s house.

The neighbours were using their barbecue yesterday enjoying some of the dry weather in Cork, but following the BBQ, they put it back in the shed without allowing it to cool adequately.

This resulted in the shed catching fire which needed to be put out by the Fire Brigade.

But prior to the arrival of the Fire Brigade, two Gardaí were on the scene, and one of them attempted to be a hero by tackling with blaze with what seemed to be a jug of water.

However, despite the efforts of the Garda, it was a similar result to bringing a knife to a gun fight; there was only ever going to be one winner.

We do applaud the effort of the man for attempting to put out the blaze as it is clearly outside his job description.

The Fire Brigade arrived a short while later and put out the fire and nobody was injured from the flames.
