Probably as Irish as it gets…

It was absolutely roasting in Ireland today as temperatures soared to a whopping 24 degrees in places.

We all know at this stage that Irish people deal with the heat with varying degrees of efficiency. Some of the more sallow among us can handle the heat but many a fair-skinned person in Ireland has struggled on days like today.

But, some of the animals in Ireland have to deal with the heat as well.

Such as these swans and cygnets in Sligo as they wandered looking for a pond to cool off in on a hot May’s day.

This is a yearly ritual for the swans who locals say make the trip up the road every year.

The Gardaí even had to come out to ensure their journey went smoothly, as Derek Robinson spotted on his way to work today as a painter and decorator.
