An Irishman is going to great lengths to try and gain his partner’s forgiveness on Valentine’s Day

Valentines

Firmly and publicly in the doghouse.

Ah Valentine’s Day. A day when Hallmark, restaurants, florists, and chocolatiers rub their hands with glee as a plethora of romantic saps being taken for a ride very caring people try to express their love.

Ah, it’s enough to make you want to puke with joy.

It’s also an opportunity to make amends and if anyone was driving on the Bangor Ring Road in Down this morning, they may have spotted some ‘unique’ signs on the side of the road.

In the film Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, the main character used three public billboards to accelerate and publicise the police’s inquest into her daughter’s murder, but this similar incident appears to be a crime of the romantic nature.

As you can see below, a series of placards were erected on the side of the road which read: “Kathryn, I was an idiot. Please forgive me and be my Valentine. I love you.”

You’ll probably see a few very public displays of affection this week, but we’re big fans of contrition too.

We’re rooting for them.
