WATCH: Irishman loses his phone doing the world’s highest bungee jump, his reaction is gold

Conor Heneghan

From exhilaration to devastation in the space of about five seconds.

At 216 metres high, the Bloukrans Bungee in South Africa, attached to the largest bridge in Africa, is the highest bungee from a bridge in the entire world.

Throwing yourself more than 200 metres towards a river below takes balls, so we can only imagine the feeling of exhilaration that must come over those brave enough to do it.

Martin Farragher, an avid musician from Ballinrobe in Mayo, is currently doing a spot of globetrotting and decided to experience the bungee jump for himself when in South Africa recently.

Martin, to his credit, didn’t mess around at the top and after a nervous “Oh, fuck”, he threw himself from the platform and towards the water below.

His immediate feeling of joy was short-lived, however, as Martin soon realised that his phone had escaped his pocket and plunged to a watery death in the river below, prompting the following reaction…

South Africa is the latesr stop on what sounds like quite a world tour for Martin.

He also recently played with Damien Rice at the Pistoia Blues Festival in Italy, where he was helped by undercover Italian police to recover his phone (the one he lost during the bungee jump) after it had been stolen.

And just in case you’re wondering ladies, he is single.

Cheers to Martin Farragher for sending this our way. Got a story for JOE? Hit us up on Facebook or Twitter, send it to our WhatsApp number 087-4001102 or mail [email protected].
