WATCH: Once-engaged couple reunited at Knock Airport having not seen each other in 29 years

Conor Heneghan

No, you’re crying.

In 1987, Marie Simpson from Milltown in Galway was engaged to be married to an Englishman named Michael Brown.

Things didn’t go as planned, however and the wedding never happened. Afterwards, Marie and Michael drifted apart and lost contact until recently, when they found each other on the Internet and opened the lines of communication once more.

They arranged to meet once again and on Friday, after 29 years apart, they had an emotional reunion at Knock Airport in what was Michael’s first ever visit to Ireland.

There were cameras there to capture the moment and if you’re feeling a bit glum of a Monday morning, then this should cheer you right up.

On the other hand, if you’re a bit fragile after the weekend, then the tears might start to flow as it’s quite emotional.

We think there’s something in our eye.

Cheers to Audrey Elliott for sending this our way.
