WATCH: People are freaking out at these scary clown sightings all over America

Conor Heneghan

If you’re easily frightened, it might be best to look away now.

Some people love them, but for many, the sight of a clown can be very unsettling, especially those who bear a resemblance to the clown in the TV adaptation of Stephen King’s IT.

In the US right now, it seems that an awful lot of people are put out by the sight of similarly scary-looking clowns right throughout the country, many of whom have been featured on the Clown Sightings account on Twitter.

Clown sightings have become a very real problem stateside in recent weeks.

According to CBS News, since August there have been multiple reports of suspicious clown-related incidents in the states of South Carolina, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York and Georgia.

There have been seven arrests in the Cincinnati area, while a school in Reading, Ohio, was closed for the day after a woman reported that she’d been attacked by a person in a clown costume whilst smoking on her porch.

In further scary clown-related news, hundreds of students at Pennsylvania State University went in search of a clown that was reportedly spotted near campus on Tuesday.

The students documented their search on social media, but Penn State police Sgt. Mike Nelson told the Centre Daily Times that there were no clown sightings or credible clown threats and that no damage or injuries were caused during the search.
