Weather warnings issued for nine counties ahead of the weekend

Lovely weekend weather ahead…

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow wind warning ahead of the weekend, pertaining to seven counties: Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Roscommon, Leitrim, Clare and Donegal.

The warning notes: “Becoming very windy on Saturday night and for a time on Sunday with a risk of some disruption. South to southwest winds, veering westerly will reach mean speeds of 50-65km/h with gusts of 90-110km/h expected.” The warning will remain in effect between 10pm tomorrow (Saturday 4 July) and 8am on Sunday.

Additionally, the United Kingdom’s Met Office has issued a similar warning for Derry and Antrim, which reads: “Strong winds may lead to some disruption on Sunday.” This warning will be in place between midnight on Sunday and 4pm.
