This week’s weather looks to be a gross mix of warm and damp

Irish weather rain

You’ll be sweatin’ under your rain-jacket.

While the threat of three different storms within the last few weeks had us all believing that Winter had well and truly arrived, it turns out that we’re not quite there yet.

Nope, we’re still in the dank and dingy depths of Autumn, as we skip the lovely leaves-turning-colour bit, and go straight to the bit where it is still kinda warm, but still mostly raining.

Oh great.

Met Eireann’s prediction for the week is enough to give people anxiety for how their hair is going to look after spending any amount of time outdoors:

MONDAY – Morning will be dry with good sunshine for a time. Cloud will increase from the Northwest during the day and some rain and drizzle will develop over parts of Ulster and Connacht in the afternoon. The rainy weather then edging a bit further South in the evening. Highest temperatures will reach 13 or 14 degrees in a moderate Westerly breeze, freshening later in the day and becoming strong and gusty in Northern parts. Mild overnight, but breezy and cloudy, with outbreaks of rain. Lows of 8 to 10 C.

TUESDAY – A cloudy, breezy day, with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle, persistent in places during the morning across Connacht and Ulster. But some dry, bright periods too, the best of these in the afternoon. Top temperatures of 13 to 17 C., in blustery westerly winds.

WEDNESDAY – Early drizzle clearing to give a mostly dry and bright day. Some sunny spells developing – best over Munster and Leinster. Top temperatures 14 to 17 C., in light variable or southwest breezes.

THURSDAY – A dry, bright and locally sunny start to the day, but outbreaks of rain and drizzle are set to develop over Ulster early in the morning and will then spread to all areas in the afternoon. A clearance is likely to follow into northern areas before evening. Top temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees. Moderate to fresh southwesterly winds will veer northwesterly late in the day.

FRIDAY – Unsettled, with some heavy rain in places.

So now you know, dress accordingly.

Which pretty much means put all of your clothes on when you leave the house, and take them according to the weather at that exact moment.
