But how many of those 38 million or so people seeking some extra-marital activity are Irish?
A very small percentage, as it turns out, but taken in the context that Ireland is a pretty small country with a small population, it's a significant enough number all the same.
A 'global infidelity map' published on the Ashley Madison Twitter account suggested that 2.5% of the Irish population were members of the website, which works out at around approximately 115,000 people.

On a per capita basis, that puts Ireland in the top ten in the world and third in Europe behind Switzerland and Spain, with Canada, USA and Australia leading the way in terms of cheating globally.
