Why you and your friends might have to stop pre-drinking before a night out

There's been a clampdown

Joe Harrington

Be interesting if it was implemented here.

It’s fair to say that pre-drinking before a night out is popular amongst young people.

It often begins during college days with something like Buckfast, and it continues well into the 20s with wine and vodka.

It’s not glamorous, even though you might think you’re Leonardo Di Caprio in The Great Gatsby.

The problem with pre-drinking is that people don’t measure properly and things get a bit wobbly once they go out into the world.

Police and some nightclubs in London have noticed that, and they’ve teamed up to make people do breathalyzer tests before they enter clubs.

Bouncers will use the breathalyzer on punters who look too drunk or are acting in an intoxicated manner (being really annoying).

The police are hoping the move will encourage people to take it easier when they’re pre-drinking so everyone can have a responsible and fun night.

It’ll be interesting if something similar comes to our shores.
