If you needed convincing to experience it for yourself this summer…

Most Irish people knew of the beauty of the west coast of Ireland before a major tourism campaign helped showcase it to a wider audience, but there’s no doubting that the advent of ‘The Wild Atlantic Way’ has had a hugely beneficial effect out west.

In the last few years, for example, it’s featured in one of the biggest movie franchises of all time and earlier this year, it was named as one of the best self-drive routes in the world at an awards ceremony in China.

The Wild Atlantic Way, which spans 2,500 kilometres of coastal road all along the west coast of Ireland from Donegal to Cork, features in a new Fáilte Ireland TV advertisement that will begin airing tonight, Tuesday May 9, as part of the latest home holiday campaign.

The ad is a key feature in a wider, ‘Embrace the Wild Atlantic Way of Life’ campaign, which emphasises the opportunity for Irish people to discover the west coast and truly get away from it all on the world’s longest defined coastal route.

The ad will be aired throughout May on RTE, TV3, Channel Four and a number of Sky channels amongst others.

Some of the most notable spots along the route, including Mullaghmore in Sligo, Achill in Mayo, Ballinskelligs in Kerry, Derrigimlagh in Galway, Fanad Lighthouse in Donegal and the Cliffs of Moher in Clare are featured in the ad, with Walking on Cars providing the soundtrack.

Not that we needed reminding of just how stunning it really is, but this does a pretty good job…
