If you’re not a wine connoisseur, it can be hard to justify splashing the cash on anything more than Tesco’s finest cheapest wine.
Unfortunately for us cheapskates, there’s very little denying that what’s easiest on the pocket is very rarely what’s easiest on the tastebuds.
Earlier this year, we heard of one handy hack on how to make a cheap wine taste better which surprisingly, simply demands of us to throw the wine into a blender. Huh.
Now there’s a new tip coming to prominence for how to make your vinegar-esque vino taste a little bit more gourmet.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Nathan Myrhvold, a technology officer at Microsoft advised adding just a few grains of salt would balance out any uneven flavours in a wine.
Nathan first thought of this when drinking a Cabernet (while sitting beside Gina Gallo of Gallo Winery) and wishing it was more savoury, thus adding a pinch of salt to his glass and enjoying the benefits. Gina tried it after and approved.
After telling his friends of his bizarre tip, they all found adding salt to wine tasted far better than before. Give it a try and let us know if your drinking experience is improved.
