Irish beach named as part of best 50 beaches in the world

Irish holidays

We don’t have that far to travel to check out the very best beach in the entire world.

It is January. It is cold. It is raining. It is windy.

So it is perfect holiday planning weather.

We imagine a fair number of folk looking to head abroad for a week or two are looking for a decent beach to sprawl out on, because that is something we too look for when shopping for a holiday.

The folks at Flight Network asked 1,000 of the travel industry’s professionals for what they considered to be the best beaches in the world, and the full ranking of the world’s top 50 can be found here.

If you’re just looking for some of the highlights, then we can tell you that the Giant’s Causeway in County Antrim cracked the top 50 worldwide best beaches, coming in at No.43.

In the Europe-only top 50, it actually came in at No.5, with three more Irish beaches making the grade: Wicklow’s Silver Stand coming in at No.17, Galway’s Dog’s Bay Beach at No.30, and Whitrocks in Antrim at No. 35.

Meanwhile, the worldwide top 10 looks like this:

10. Varadero Beach – Cuba

9. Maya Bay – Thailand

8. Anse Source D’Argent – Seychelles

7. Seven Mile Beach – Cayman Islands

6. Grace Bay – Turks and Caicos Islands

5. Tulum Beach – Mexico

4. Praia Do Sancho – Brazil

3. Hidden Beach, El Nido – Philippines

2. Whitehaven Beach – Australia

1. Shipwreck Beach – Greece
