Quizzing Championships

Have you got what it takes?

While teenagers all around the country are preparing for their Junior Cert and Leaving Cert exams, those who fancy themselves as quiz masters are eagerly awaiting the World Quizzing Championships, which are set to take place on Saturday, 2 June.

The quiz will take place all around the world on the same day, with the Irish edition taking place in the Terenure Badminton Club. Registration for the quiz takes place at 10.30 am, with the actual quiz itself beginning at 11am.

It’s an individual quiz with 240 questions in total, with a total of eight categories being represented, these being: sports, history, culture, world, entertainment, media, lifestyle and sciences.

The same quiz will be taken by contestants in countries around the world, and because of the title bestowed upon the winner, you can expect the questions to be tough.

Although there will only be one overall winner, there will be prizes for the winners on the day. As well as that, there will be a team quiz taking place afterwards, with teams being made up on the day.

Irishman and BBC “egghead” Pat Gibson has won the World Quizzing Championships four times in the past, so who knows, maybe the luck of the Irish will be on your side come 2 June?

The entry fee is €10, and no pre-booking is required. You can just show up on the day if you wish.

If you fancy yourself as a bit of an egghead, you can find out more information here, or simply make your way to Terenure Badminton Club on 2 June.
