Would you try a bacon and beer milkshake?

We need to get to Texas immediately.

JOE

We need to get to Texas immediately.

The United States of America might be struggling through a government shutdown but that doesn’t mean that lots of other great stuff isn’t happening over there. Stuff like the creation of the greatest bit of food news we’ve heard in quite a while.

At an end-of-the-month NASCAR race in Texas, a very special milkshake will be available, a milkshake that combines two of our favourite things, beer and bacon.

Called the Shake n’ Bake Bacon Brew (nice NASCAR/Talladega Nights reference) the recipe for this is pretty simple.

According to Autoweek it involves ‘six ounces of Rahr & Sons Ugly Pug Black Lager, six ounces of Blue Bell homemade vanilla ice cream and two ounces of bacon-infused maple syrup all mixed together in a blender.

Simples. Here it is being made by Levy Restaurants chef Joel Pena and it will be sold for the low, low price of $10 (€7.35).

Somebody in Ireland needs to start making this…
