One of the Irish routes to Reykjavik has been completely suspended by Wow Air

We did not see this coming.

Wow Air has suspended its Cork service to Reykjavik.

The airline only introduced the route at the beginning of May, but it confirmed it will cease to operate from October.

The route was a welcomed addition to Cork Airport as it had a connecting flight in Reykjavik to America and was supposed to run for a year. For now, it will only operate until October with the future of the route being decided on a later date.

According to The Evening Echo, a spokesperson for the airline said:

“Affected customers have been informed and offered to rebook on another flight from Cork, to rebook on our Dublin services, or a full refund. Most passengers have rescheduled for another day.”

“Wow Air will continue to operate its Cork to Reykjavik summer season service until October 27 next, at which point the route will be suspended for the winter season. A decision on Wow Air’s plans for summer 2018 from Cork will be made later in the autumn.”

It’s believed the route was suspended due to lack of demand.
