You should delete these 8 words from your CV right now

Alan Loughnane

They’re not doing you any favours…

Applying for jobs can be a daunting task and no matter how many times you reread your CV, there’s always a little bit of doubt whether what you’ve written is actually relevant, or you’re just talking a load of dog’s bollocks.

We’re sure if you’re seeking a job or thinking of changing your job, you’re updating your CV regularly.

But by all means include that you won the neatest handwriting competition in junior infants and that you can, in fact, carry five filled pint glasses at once… you can leave out the minor detail that you require a tray for this particular skill.

200-125

But how can you make your CV stand out from all the others? Well, speaking to the Mail Online recently, Darain Faraz of LinkedIn and Lee Biggins of CV-Library said you should start by avoiding using any of the following words and phrases on your CV.

  • Perfectionist
  • Multi-tasking
  • Hard-working
  • Enthusiastic and Passionate
  • Track record
  • References available on request
  • Salary negotiable
  • Team player who works well individually
