You spoke, we listened: No more Katie Hopkins stories on JOE

We're not the first, and we're hopefully not the last to make this call

JOE

Once again, people have been both appalled and angry at the words of Katie Hopkins.

This comment from Eoin Mooney on Facebook yesterday was the tip of the iceberg, and we believe this best reflects the views of our readers.

Following the lead of i100 in the UK, we’ve taken the decision to completely ignore everything Katie Hopkins says or does from here on out.

We stand by our previous Hopkins-related stories, as we believed them newsworthy at the time, but that’s it.

You never argue with fools or drunks, you just deny them an audience and hope that they slip quietly away.

We’re nowhere near grandiose enough to think this will make any difference in keeping the media free from her poison. She, and her employers, have tapped into one unshakeable truth: People love nothing more than to be appalled.

As long as that’s the case she’ll have her pulpit, but you won’t read about her columns or her tweets here.

All we have to do now is keep the fingers crossed that she doesn’t hook up with Conor McGregor on Tinder and go for a date in Coppers. Some stories we can’t avoid.
