Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing Chile and Udinese winger Alexis Sanchez, according to the player’s agent.

Sanchez delivered a string of eye-catching performances for Chile during the World Cup in South Africa during the summer that brought him to the attention of some of Europe’s top clubs.

United had been linked with Sanchez when he was younger, but were beaten to his signing by Udinese in 2006. Sanchez is renowned for his pace and his dribbling skills and has already scored 11 goals in 32 internationals for Chile despite the fact that he is only 21.

Sanchez’s agent, Fernando Felicevich, has revealed that Sir Alex Ferguson has been tracking the progress of the Chilean winger for some time and that a move may be a possibility in the future.

"Manchester United has been following the performances of Alexis since some time ago and it could be a possibility in the future," he said.

"The Premier League would be a good destination for Alexis as he is young, strong and very fast, something very important for being able to have success in that league."
