After a string of postponements, the only games played in the Premier League today were at Ewood Park and the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland 1-0 Bolton

Danny Wellbeck netted the only goal of the game, as Sunderland overcame Bolton at the Stadium of Light. It was the Manchester United loanee's fifth goal of the season.

Bolton were the better side for the early stages, but weren't able to create any clear cut opportunities. Then in the 31st minute, Jordan Henderson played the ball into Darren Bent whose shot was palmed out by Bolton stopper Jussi Jaaskelainen and into the path of Wellbeck, who headed home.

Lee Cattermole was lucky to escape a red card in the second half, when his tackle on Johan Elmander went unpunished. Ivan Klasnic both had good chances late in the game, but neither team were to find the net. The win moves Sunderland up to sixth in the table, level on points with Tottenham Hotspur.

Blackburn 1-1 West Ham

West Ham were the better side in the first half but weren't able to break the dreadlock, despite going close through Frederic Piquionne and Luis Boa Morte.

It was Blackburn who were to score first, however, as defender Ryan Nelsen's shot was saved by Ruud Boffin before the New Zealand international bundled the ball over the line in the 53rd minute.

The goal wasn't enough to give Steven Kean a win in his first ever match as Rovers boss, as the Hammers were to equalise with a little over 20 minutes remaining.

After some great work from Scott Parker, the ball came to young Junior Stanislas who slid the ball into the bottom corner past as helpless Paul Robinson.
