Donegal man drowns

Did we mention the driver was disqualified as well?

Gardaí in Limerick have taken possession of a car after finding that a disqualified driver continued to get behind the wheel even though it had no valid insurance, NCT or tax discs.

Some of the discs that were in the car were from a different vehicle entirely and even the discovery left the Gardaí extremely confused…

“Where do we start with this one?”

The post was put up on the Garda Síochána – Cork, Kerry & Limerick – Southern Region Facebook page and the Gardaí have said that a court appearance for the driver is to follow.

According to Citizens Information, driving without insurance on your car is enough for a mandatory court appearance and in addition, will get you five penalty points and a court fine.

If a vehicle is found by the Gardaí not to have a current motor insurance policy, they have the power to impound the vehicle until such time as an insurance certificate is produced by the owner which insures the use of the vehicle. The owner of the vehicle will be liable for all charges or costs incurred by the Gardaí in the removal and storage of the vehicle.

Similarly, the Gardaí are empowered to impound any vehicle which has not been taxed for a period of two months or more.
