Koenigsegg sets six new records

The Koenigsegg Agera R is set to become the world’s fastest sprint production car, beating even the Bugatti Veyron Supersport.

Remember JOE’s top five European cars? Well, looks like one of them has gone and done us proud. Koenigsegg are one of those car manufacturers that shy away from the limelight and stick to what they know best, building fast cars.

The CCR and CCX were two cars not to mess with when they began production in ’04 and ’06 respectively. But it’s the Agera that has stolen our hearts and the record of being the fastest sprint car in the world.

The company’s website reads, “A standard Koenigsegg Agera R took several new production car world records at the Koenigsegg proving ground in Angelholm, Sweden.”

According to Koenigsegg, the test data was collected by a third party independent source and all the relevant results and data will be submitted to the Guinness Book of World Records. The guys at Guinness have confirmed they are waiting on the results so an official announcement should be made this week.

Included in the new records are the following:

0-300 kmh: 14.53 seconds (300kmh = 186mph)

300-0 kmh: 6.66 seconds

0-200 mph: 17.68 seconds

200-0 mph: 7.28 seconds

0-300-0 kmh: 21.19 seconds

0-200-0 mph: 24.96 seconds

In contrast a 1,200bhp Bugatti Veyron Supersport hits 200mph in 22.2 seconds compared to the Koenigsegg Agera R, which does it in 17.68 seconds.
