If you’re sitting in, then we’ve got a lot of great movies for you to choose from tonight:

SATURDAY 16 JUNE

Snow White & The Huntsman – Channel 4 – 18:00

Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron and Kristen Stewart star in this gritty reimagining of the Snow White fairytale, with more than a dab of Game Of Thrones influence about the whole thing. Pretty fun if you can turn your brain off and just enjoy the attractive people fighting each other.

Hulk – E4 – 18:20

The first attempt at the big green angry dude getting his own movie – before Edward Norton took it too seriously, and then Mark Ruffallo played it perfectly as back up for Thor – featured Eric Bana and Jennifer Connolly, but was maybe a bit too art-y for the blockbuster lovers, as the director of Brokeback Mountain and The Life Of Pi goes all-in on the comic book visuals. Quite unlike any other superhero movie out there.

Legally Blonde – ITV2 – 19:05

“Bend…… AND SNAP!”

Lethal Weapon – ITV4 – 21:00

Over 30 years old at this point, but it is still great to see one of the best mismatched buddy cop movies kick off properly, with Gibson and Glover giving created comedic chemistry, and a fully realised plot with a fantastic boo-hiss villain.

Bad Teacher – E4 – 21:00

Cameron Diaz is the not-good-educator who just sees the job as a way to make money instead of moulding the futures of young minds, until a new substitute teacher, played by Justin Timberlake, arrives in her school and she finds herself in competition for his attention.

The Chronicles Of Riddick – Sky One – 22:00

The overblown sequel to the stripped back horror of Pitch Black, this puts Vin Diesel in the center of a huge intergalactic space war, with more backstory than the movie knows what to do with. That being said, you can’t fault the movie for not making a swing for the fences, and even if it is a bit of a mess, it is still a very enjoyable mess. Dame Helen Mirren plays a space-ghost, and that should be enough to win you over, to be quite honest.

Desperado – Dave – 22:00

Antonio Banderas plays the assassin out for revenge, roaming through gangs with guitar cases full of weapons, to find the man who killed the woman he loved. Salma Hayek, Quentin Tarantino, Danny Trejo and more co-star in a very fun action movie filled with inventive shoot-outs and plenty of cool folk walking away slowly from explosions.

Predator 2 – Film 4 – 22:55

Danny Glover replaces Arnie for the sequel, as the alien-hunter swaps out the jungle for LA in the sweltering summer, and both the criminals and police on both sides of huge city gang war find their are now the prey for the camouflaged creature.

The Help – BBC Two – 23:50

Emma Stone, Jessica Chastain, Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Bryce Dallas Howard, Alisson Janney, Sissey Spacek and loads more star in this tear-jerking Oscar-winner, dealing with 1960’s Mississippi, the black women who make a living as the help for the rich folk in town, and the white families they have essentially helped to raise.

Blazing Saddles – RTE One – 00:25

One of the funniest comedies ever made. That is all.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
