Looking for a lazy, couch-bound Saturday? We’re here to help!

A very mixed bag tonight.

VERY mixed.

Probably because Shazam! is out this weekend (our review here), we’ve got a lot of superhero movies to choose from tonight.

And also probably because the new Pet Sematary is out this weekend (again, our review here), we’ve got a solid mix of horror.

Plus there are some comedies and dramas for those looking for something else entirely.

SATURDAY 6 APRIL

Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2 – RTE One – 5.15pm

An almost-as-good-as-the-original sequel, from the folks behind The LEGO Movie, which gives us more Steve The Monkey, which can only be a good thing.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire – E4 – 7.00pm

The best of the four movies, thanks to some well put together action sequences, and Jennifer Lawrence really making Katniss her own.

Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice – RTE Two – 7.40pm

Is this superhero movie as bad as we remember? Part One.

Hellboy – Dave – 8.00pm

This weirdo superhero movie doesn’t get enough praise these days. Part One.

Jack Reacher – Sky One – 8.00pm

Tom Cruise stars as a former army detective who is drawn into a dangerous plot about one of the world’s best snipers who has begun taking pot shots at the general public. A very good thriller, and the movie that put him and eventual Mission: Impossible – Fallout director Chris McQuarrie together!

X-Men: Apocalypse – Channel 4 – 8.00pm

Is this superhero movie as bad as we remember? Part Two.

Blade – TCM – 9.45pm

This weirdo superhero movie doesn’t get enough praise these days. Part Two.

Ouija: Origin Of Evil – FilmFour – 9.50pm

Much like Annabelle: Origins, this prequel to a not-very-good horror movie turned out to be surprisingly quite good, likely due to the fact that it comes from the same director as Netflix’s hit horror show The Haunting Of Hill House.

The Squid and The Whale – TG4 – 10.35pm

A chew-your-own-face-off level of awkward comedy, starring Jesse Eisenberg, Laura Linney, and Jeff Daniels as a family being slowly torn apart by divorce, and then fuel is added to the fire when one of the parents finds their career suddenly taking off, much to the chagrin of the now-recent ex.

Lawless – Channel 4 – 10.50pm

Tom Hardy, Jessica Chastain, Guy Pearce, Shia LaBeouf, Jason Clarke, and more fill out this all-star cast, telling the story of a group of bootlegging brothers who find themselves the target of a ruthless government agent.

The Conjuring – ITV2 – 11.45pm

One of the most entertaining, slickest horrors of recent years. If you haven’t seen it, it is definitely worth checking out.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
