Having a couch day but not sure what to watch? We’re here to help.

If you aren’t heading to the cinema – and we reckon you should, if only to check out new horror release Hereditary – then you should at least check out the latest edition of JOE’s movie show The Big Reviewski, which you can do right here.

Otherwise, here movie recommendations than you’ll know what to do with on a rainy Sunday…

SUNDAY 17 JUNE

Volcano – Channel 4 – 14:25

Tommy Lee Jones and Anne Heche have to save LA from a new volcano that is forming under the city streets. A ridiculous movie, yes, but a lot of fun all the same.

Step Up 2 The Streets – ITV2 – 18:55

Channing Tatum pops up as a cameo in this dance-off sequel which – if you’re a fan of R’n’B and hip-hop – has one of the best soundtracks ever. If you’re not a fan of those, then this probably isn’t the movie for you.

Beetlejuice – SyFy – 19:00

“Ah. Well… I attended Juilliard… I’m a graduate of the Harvard business school. I travel quite extensively. I lived through the Black Plague and had a pretty good time during that. I’ve seen the EXORCIST ABOUT A HUNDRED AND SIXTY-SEVEN TIMES, AND IT KEEPS GETTING FUNNIER EVERY SINGLE TIME I SEE IT… NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT YOU’RE TALKING TO A DEAD GUY… NOW WHAT DO YOU THINK? You think I’m qualified?”

Triple 9 – Film 4 – 21:00

Chiwetel Ejifor, Kate Winslett, Casey Affleck, Anthony Mackie, Woody Harrelson, Gal Gadot, Aaron Paul, Norman Reedus and loads more star in this story of cops and robbers caught up in a city-wide secret war.

Escape From New York – SyFy – 21:00

Kurt Russell is the coolest man alive, and here he plays a criminal hired to save the President from New York, which has been turned into a massive city-sized prison. Ultimate 80’s cheese.

Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby – Comedy Central – 21:00

“If you’re not first, you’re last!”

Ghost – Universal TV – 21:00

Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and an Oscar-winning Whoopie Goldberg star in this heart-breaking romantic drama spanning across life and death. Features that famous poetry scene.

Heat – TV3 – 21:00

The movie that finally put Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino on screen together, it also happens to be one of the greatest thrillers ever made. If you’re never seen it, dedicate your night to this.

Due Date – RTE One – 21:30

Robert Downey Jnr needs to drive across country to meet his wife before she gives birth, but he somehow gets caught up in the same travel plans as Zack Galifinakis’ eccentric wannabe actor.

Source Code – ITV4 – 22:00

Jake Gyllenhaal is a man on his way to work one morning when he is recruited by the government and told that he is the only one who can stop a bomb going off on the train he is currently travelling on. A mind-bending sci-fi action thriller.

All Is Lost – Channel 4 – 00:00

Robert Redford spends almost all of this movie entirely alone and entirely silent, as a sailor attempting to make an epic journey across the ocean, when his ship gets caught up in the wake of a huge hurricane. An absolute modern classic.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
