Catch Me If You Can

Get your Monday movie fix right here!

If you didn’t head to the cinema over the weekend, then you really should have, because there were A LOT of new releases, and we’ve reviewed them all right here:

But if you’re sitting in, there’s plenty to choose from:

MONDAY 24 SEPTEMBER

Philadelphia – Film Four – 9.00pm

Tom Hanks stars as a gay lawyer who contracts AIDS, and turns to his former rival, played by Denzel Washington, to represent him in a lawsuit when he wants to prove he was discriminated against because of his condition.

Catch Me If You Can – TG4 – 9.30pm

Tom Hanks (again) stars in the true-story of the world’s youngest con-artist (Leo DiCaprio) and the agent who travels the world to catch him (Hanks). Directed by Spielberg, and it features one of the greatest opening credits sequences of all time.

Gremlins 2: The New Batch – Syfy – 10.40pm

One of the most bonkers sequels ever made, and is responsible for this amazing sketch by Key & Peele.

Sex Drive – E! Entertainment – 11.00pm

It is all there in the title. A virgin falls in love with a girl on the other side of America, so he steals his brother’s car, and drives across the country with his friends, in order to have sex. One of those raunchy comedies that flooded the cinemas in the early noughties in the wake of American Pie, but actually a pretty funny one.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows – Film Four – 11.15pm

Downey Jr. and Law are back with their peerless chemistry, this time joined by Jared Harris as a perfectly cast Professor Moriarty, the original Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (Noomi Rapace) as the only witness to a big conspiracy, and an amazing set-piece in an exploding forest.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
