True Lies

Mondays are tough. So here are five reasons to stay on the couch.

We’ve all had a fun weekend, and now we’re back to work/school/college/whatever, and Monday evenings are needed for decompression.

If you are heading to the cinema, then make sure you check out the latest episode of The Big Reviewski, where we review all of the new releases, including A Star Is Born and Venom:

If you are staying home, then here are your movie choices:

MONDAY 8 OCTOBER

The River Wild – Film Four – 6.50pm

Meryl Streep finds that she and her young kids have been taken hostage by a group of bank robbers who are trying to get away by traversing down a killer river of rapids. A very fun adventure thriller, with Kevin Bacon on full bad-guy duties.

True Lies – Film Four – 9.00pm

Arnie is basically an American James Bond, except he also has a wife (Jamie Lee Curtis) and kid (Eliza Dushku), who have no idea that he is actually a spy until they get caught up in his attempts to stop a terrorist from blowing up the USA. Sooooo much fun.

The Devil’s Advocate – TCM – 9.00pm

Keanu Reeves and Al Pacino attempt to out-scream each other in this supernatural legal thriller, and poor Charlize Theron is caught up in the middle.

Ransom – ITV4 – 11.30pm

Mel Gisbon and Rene Russo’s son gets kidnapped and instead of giving the money to the kidnappers, he offers it to the public to whoever can help them find their son. A twisty thriller with a stellar cast.

Get Carter – TCM – 11.50pm

The Michael Caine original, not the terrible Stallone remake. He plays a volatile gangster who finds out his brother has been killed, and he has revenge on his mind. A classic.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
