Here are the 5 best movies on the telly tonight

Tuesday. What do people even do on a Tuesday? We’re not sure. So we’re going to watch movies.

There are other things to watch tonight that aren’t movies.

There is the second part of the incredible Whistleblower documentary.

There is the very underrated Julia Roberts series, Homecoming.

Or new cinema release Widows, which is really, really good, and will likely be winning a few Oscars come early 2019.

However, if you’re in more of a movie-on-the-couch kinda mood tonight, we’ve got you covered:

TUESDAY 13 NOVEMBER

The Perks Of Being A Wallflower – FilmFour – 6.55pm

A different take on the usual high school drama, when an introvert freshman (Percy Jackson’s Logan Lerman) is taken under the wings of two seniors (Harry Potter’s Emma Watson and Fantastic Beasts’ Ezra Miller), who welcome him to the real world.

Dead Calm – TCM – 9.00pm

Nicole Kidman and Sam Neill are a couple attempting to get over a tragedy by taking a long sailing trip together, only to find a sinking boat and the barely-alive Billy Zane clinging on for dear life. They bring him aboard, nurse him back to health, and slowly realise that may be the last thing they ever do…

You Don’t Mess With The Zohan – Comedy Central – 9.00pm

One of Adam Sandler’s weirder, but also (whisper it) funnier films, in which he plays an Israeli Special Forces Soldier who fakes his death so he can re-emerge in New York City as a hair stylist. Things don’t go according to plan.

Pain & Gain – FilmFour – 9.00pm

Michael Bay tries to go full Coen Brothers in this dark and twisted crime-thriller starring Mark Wahlberg, The Rock, and Anthony Mackie as three bodybuilders who get caught up in an extortion scheme and a kidnapping plot that goes horribly wrong.

Goodfellas – ITV4 – 10.05pm

The greatest gangster movie of all time? Discuss.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
