Here are the 5 best movies on the telly tonight

Rory Cashin

One of the picks is a documentary onĀ “one of the greatest footballers to have ever lived”.

We’re not going to lie.

Tonight’s picks aren’t AMAZING. There is a chance that one of them will be exactly what you want to watch on a Tuesday evening, but truth be told, you’re probably better off heading to the cinema.

If you’re not sure what to watch there, then you can check out our reviews of everything in Irish cinemas right now, right here:

Otherwise, if you are insisting on having a couch night, then here are the highlights of the movies on TV:

TUESDAY 18 SEPTEMBER

The Expendables – ITV2 – 9.00pm

Sly Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Mickey Rourke, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Randy Couture and more star as a group of mercenaries who are, well, expendable. Stallone also directs this love letter to the 80s action movies, with all of the blood and guts you could want.

Everest – Film 4 – 9.00pm

Jake Gylleenhaal, Jason Clarke, Keira Knightley, Robin Wright, Josh Brolin, Sam Worthington and more star in this emotional and visually impressive recreation of the true-life story of a group of people who set out on an expedition in 1996 to reach the peak, when a horrific storm arrives.

The Devil’s Advocate – TCM – 9.00pm

Keanu Reeves is a hot-shot lawyer who gets noticed by law firm owner Al Pacino, and is brought from a small town in Florida to Manhattan and his career begins to take off. But Reeves’ wife (Charlize Theron) thinks there is something up, and she isn’t wrong…

Gascoigne – RTE Two – 10.10pm

The 2015 feature-length documentary on the life of “one of the greatest footballers to have ever lived”: delving deep into Paul Gascoigne’s psyche, vulnerabilities, fear, and triumphs.

The Woman In Black – Film 4 – 11.20pm

Daniel Radcliffe is asked to head to a mansion in the middle of nowhere to help an elderly lady put her estate in order before passing away, but he soon discovers that the town locals are hiding a terrible secret, and there is something evil haunting the home he finds himself trapped in.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
