Movies on TV

DiCaprio. Pitt. Clooney. Blunt. Damon. Nicholson. Decisions, decisions…

The bad weather is on the way, so the best thing to do is just stay on the couch (or just go straight to bed!) and watch one of the following:

WEDNESDAY 19 SEPTEMBER

Ocean’s Eleven – Sky One – 9.00pm

Brad Pitt and George Clooney and Matt Damon and (counts on fingers) eight others are trying to rob Andy Garcia’s three Vegas hotels all at once, while also trying to win back Julia Roberts. It is about as cool and slick and stylish as cinema can get.

The Five-Year Engagement – ITV2 – 9.00pm

Emily Blunt and Jason Segel play a loving couple who get engaged, but find themselves constantly up against obstacles every time they try to set a date for the actual wedding. A very cute, but very real rom-com.

Rocky – ITV4 – 9.00pm

The boxing movie.

The Da Vinci Code – Syfy – 9.00pm

Tom Hanks and Audrey Tautou team up to figure out a centuries-old mystery involving The Mona Lisa and also, maybe, Jesus Christ? It is based on that book that everybody you know was reading one summer, and while the plot of the film isn’t exactly what you’d call “good”, it definitely is trashy enough to be easily watchable.

The Departed – ITV4 – 11.35pm

DiCaprio and Damon play a cop pretending to be a criminal / criminal pretending to be a cop, amid the constantly swirling double and triple crosses, thanks to Jack Nicholson’s gang boss, Vera Farmiga’s love interest, and Mark Wahlberg as the constantly swearing cop. Also, Alec Baldwin drops in for a few minutes and steals every scene that he is in.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
