Including a multi-Oscar winner, and one of the best action movies of all time.

Outside is all cold and dark and October-y.

You’re better off not being outside. But what are the alternatives?

You could head to the cinema? There were no less than FIVE new releases last week, including Zombieland 2, Maleficent 2, Official Secrets, Shaun The Sheep 2, and Dark Lies The Island, and we’ve done our best to review them all right here.

Otherwise, you could sit in and enjoy one of these instead:

MONDAY 21 OCTOBER

Super 8 – Film4 – 6.50pm

JJ Abrams more or less set-up Stranger Things with this throwback to Spielberg-lite, kid-friendly horror, about a group of small-town kids who get caught up in a big monster-y mess.

The opening train crash scene is still pretty fantastic to this day, and fair play to the movie for not being afraid to get proper frightening at times.

Gladiator – Sky One – 9pm

Russell Crowe became the world’s biggest hunk when he embarked on a mission of revenge for the death of his wife and child in ancient Rome.

Terminator 2: Judgement Day – ITV4 – 9pm

Ahead of the release of the SIXTH Terminator movie, why not remind yourself of this entry from 1991, which definitely stakes a claim as the greatest action movie of all time.

Terminator: Genysis is also on tonight at 9pm on Film4, but seriously, don’t watch that, because it is terrible.

Vacancy – Horror Channel – 11pm

Kate Beckinsale and Luke Wilson check in to a cheap motel for the night after their car breaks down, but they soon discover that there is something verrrrrrry off about the establishment.

A fun, scary, violent little thriller.

Swordfish – ITV4 – 11.45pm

Hugh Jackman is the world’s best hacker (haha) and is recruited by big bad guy John Travolta (That wig! That facial hair!) to help fund his weird terrorist organisation.

It doesn’t make a lick of sense, but stuff sure does blow up good. The fact that it also stars Halle Berry and Vinnie Jones should give you some idea of the kind of movie we’re dealing with here.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
