Action? Comedy? Horror? Eh… a different action? The choice is yours!

Start your week right with a decent night in thanks to one of these flicks on the box this evening:

MONDAY 14 JANUARY

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix – ITV2 – 6.20pm

The fifth one, and also the one with probably the best action sequence in the entire franchise: in the Ministry of Magic, Dumbledore and Voldemort finally meet face-to-face, and put the total might of their combined powers together in a hugely destructive scrap.

Mission: Impossible – Sky One – 9.00pm

Before the movies became more about the hugely impressive stunts and was focused more on being a (kind of) low key Bond, this twist-heavy entry needs you to pay attention all the way through. At least up until the exploding helicopter in the train tunnel bit…

Outbreak – Syfy – 9.00pm

Dustin Hoffman and Rene Russo are trying to stop Ross’ monkey from Friends from spreading a deadly disease all over America. Morgan Freeman, Kevin Spacey, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Donald Sutherland co-star in a decent thriller.

22 Jump Street – RTE Two – 9.30pm

The better-than-the-original takes the cops-in-high-school angle and moves them to college instead, as Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill once again prove to have some incredible chemistry, while the directors own the “Sequel Means More Of Everything” mantra and pushes it to the extreme.

Shutter Island – TG4 – 9.30pm

Leo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo head to an isolated psychiatric home on an island off the coast of America to help find a missing patient, but they soon discover there is a lot more going on here than meets the eye. Martin Scorsese goes full psychological thriller here, with the help of a truly impressive supporting cast.
