5 new additions to Netflix to check out this weekend

Keeley Ryan

Perfect if you’re planning on staying in tonight.

It’s been a lot colder the last few days, and the option of staying in and binge-watching a movie or TV show is just really tempting.

Thankfully, Netflix have come to the rescue with some binge-worthy new additions.

Sex and the City The Movie

Carrie Bradshaw and Mr. Big after they move in together in an impossibly beautiful apartment in New York City.

Things start to spiral out of control after they make the big decision to get married: the guest list expands from 75 to 200+ people and Carrie’s meant-to-be simple gown becomes….well, anything but. An upcoming photo spread in Vogue puts the event–which will take place at the New York Public Library–squarely in the public eye.

But everything changes after one of Carrie’s beset friends inadvertently causes Mr. Big to jilt her at the altar.

The Neverending Story

On his way to school, Bastian (Barret Oliver) ducks into a bookstore to avoid bullies. Sneaking away with a book called “The Neverending Story,” Bastian begins reading it in the school attic.

The novel is about Fantasia, a fantasy land threatened by “The Nothing,” a darkness that destroys everything it touches.

The kingdom needs the help of a human child to survive. When Bastian reads a description of himself in the book, he begins to wonder if Fantasia is real and needs him to survive

Living Undocumented

In 2018, eight undocumented families took the extraordinary risk of allowing film crews to chronicle their lives as they faced potential deportation. Ranging from harrowing to hopeful, their journeys illuminate and humanize the complex US immigration system.

From Emmy-winning executive producers Aaron Saidman and Eli Holzman, and executive producer Selena Gomez, LIVING UNDOCUMENTED depicts the struggles many must endure in their quest to pursue the American dream.

In the Tall Grass

When siblings Becky and Cal hear the cries of a young boy lost within a field of tall grass, they venture in to rescue him, only to become ensnared themselves by a sinister force that quickly disorients and separates them.

Cut off from the world and unable to escape the field’s tightening grip, they soon discover that the only thing worse than getting lost is being found.

Based on the novella by Stephen King and Joe Hill.

Raising Dion

Raising Dion follows the story of a woman named Nicole (Alisha Wainwright), who raises her son Dion (newcomer Ja’Siah Young) after the death of her husband, Mark (Michael B. Jordan).

The normal dramas of raising a son as a single mom are amplified when Dion starts to manifest several mysterious, superhero-like abilities.

Nicole must now keep her son’s gifts secret with the help of Mark’s best friend Pat (Jason Ritter), and protect Dion from antagonists out to exploit him while figuring out the origin of his abilities.
