If you are remaining couch-bound, then this is what you should be watching:
SUNDAY 4 NOVEMBER
All The President’s Men – TCM – 6.20pm
The true story of two journalists – played by Dustin Hoffman and Robert Redford – who essentially brought down a crooked American President. That has absolutely nothing topical about it today whatsoever. Nope. Nothing.
The Devil Wears Prada – Film Four – 6.35pm
“Get me Demarchelier!”
Signs – Syfy – 9.00pm
Mel Gibson and Joaquin Phoenix star in this sci-fi horror from M. Night Shyamalan, playing two brothers who find their home under attack by what may or may not be evil aliens.
Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) – RTE Two – 9.00pm
The four-time Oscar winning drama epic is a true Marmite film, but definitely one you should check out if you’ve never seen it, if only to see Michael Keaton’s truly unhinged performance as an actor attempting to remain relevant. It also has some of the most incredible camerawork in any film ever, if that happens to be your thing.
22 Jump Street – ITV4 – 9.00pm
The jury is out on whether this sequel is actually better than the original or not, but the reteaming of Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill still works really well, and the whole basis of the comedy has a very Scream 2-vibe, self-aware that it is sometimes impossible to improve on the magic of a successful original.
Event Horizon – Syfy – 11.10pm
We went deep on why this film is better than you think. Read all about that here.
