You’ve got to choose between Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds at 9pm!

Take the night off before the weekend arrives proper.

Here are the best movies that your TV has on offer this evening:

THURSDAY 6 FEBRUARY

The Hitman’s Bodyguard – FilmFour – 9pm

Ryan Reynolds is the bodyguard assigned to protect a hitman (Samuel L. Jackson), and they Do Not Get Along. Very violent action and very profane comedy ensues. The sequel, The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, is set to arrive in cinemas this August.

Step Brothers – Comedy Central – 9pm

“Brennan, that is the voice of an angel. I can’t even make eye contact with you right now. Your voice is like a combination of Fergie and Jesus.”

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part Two – E4 – 9pm

The epic finale to the four-part series finds Jennifer Lawrence finally taking the revolution to the dystopian government, who are not willing to give up their power without a fight. The supporting cast in this is insane, including Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Julianne Moore, and Donald Sutherland. It also marked the final role for Philip Seymour Hoffman before he died in 2014.

Jackass 3 – Comedy Central – 11pm

Grown men get paid a lot of money to hurt themselves and each other. You either love these films, and you’ll be going to see the new one next year, or you don’t, and you won’t.

Kiss The Girls – FilmFour – 11.20pm

In the late 90s, it felt like Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd were in every chasing-the-killer movie, so it made sense that they would inevitably cross paths in this slick thriller about a serial killer being chased down by a vengeful detective (Freeman) and the one woman who escaped his grasps (Judd).

The Other Guys – Virgin Media One – 12am

If one Will Ferrell movie wasn’t enough for you tonight, then you can also dive into this one, in which he is paired up with Mark Wahlberg as a pair of cops attempting to solve an overly complicated money laundering scheme. Sam Jackson (again!) and The Rock feature in the movie’s opening scene, arguably one of the funniest opening scenes of the last few years.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
