Here comes the weekend! But first, movies!

Wanna take it easy before a weekend of debauchery? Or wanna take it easy leading into a weekend of taking it even more easy?

Then a night with some movies will help you to do that.

Here are our thoughts on all the new movies in the cinema this week:

If you’re not heading out, here are the best movies on TV for tonight:

THURSDAY 8 AUGUST

About Time – FilmFour – 6.45pm

Domhnall Gleeson is a time-travelling romantic, who keeps going back to make his life with Rachel McAdams as good as he possibly can, but the results aren’t always what he’d hoped for. A funny but also very sad romance.

The Hangover Part II – ITV2 – 9pm

The not-as-good sequel that is still not-as-bad as you’d heard, with the trio heading to Thailand and once again blacking out, losing someone, and getting heavily involved with some dangerous criminals.

The Green Hornet – Comedy Central – 9pm

Seth Rogen is the spoiled rich guy who decides to put his money and power to good use, hiring Jay Chou as his personal bodyguard/primary crime-fighter, and he’ll need him in order to stop Christoph Waltz’s mob boss.

The Purge: Anarchy – FilmFour – 10.50pm

The second (and second best?) of the The Purge series finds three intertwining groups of people attempting to survive the night, but discovering that it may not be as easy as simply taking cover and waiting it out as the odds begin to be stacked against them.

Mammal – Virgin Media Three – 12am (midnight)

Dark psychological drama as Six Feet Under’s Rachel Griffiths takes in a homeless teenager (Barry Keoghan), while she is still recovering from the death of her own son, but his association with a nearby gang causes untold complications for them both.

Jackass 2.5 – Comedy Central Extra – 12am (midnight)

The extended version of the sequel to the reality gross-out show, with more disgusting stuff and more self-harm than you could see when the movie was released in the cinema. Remember when watching grown men eating poop was enough to become the biggest show on TV and making hundreds of millions of dollars at the worldwide box office? What a time to be alive.
