Netflix’s documentary about the biggest clusterf**k of a music festival in years looks excellent

Fyre Festival

When rich kids get scammed. This looks excellent.

Decadence, wealth, luxury, hedonism, vanity, a tropical paradise that’s about to be turned into an exclusive playground for the world’s richest kids.

The drink was expected to flow like a P Diddy video. The music from the world’s best artists was supposed to be the soundtrack for the best few days of their lives.

What they got was sliced bread, American cheese, and emergency relief tents.

Oh yes, it’s time to relive the world-famous clusterf**k that we now know as Fyre Festival.

The luxury $12,000 festival in the Bahamas descended into absolute chaos as festival goers accused the organisers of scamming them out of their money.

The festival was co-organised by Ja Rule and boasted acts such as Migos, Desiigner, Blink-182, Disclosure and more.

Other activities were supposed to include yoga, treasure hunts for thousands of dollars, massages and meditation sessions.

What unfolded was an absolute shit show as festival goers complained about being stranded on the island without luggage, security, infrastructure, and ultimately, shelter.

Lawsuits followed.

Billy McFarland, founder and CEO of Fyre Media, the promoters of Fyre Festival, was placed under arrest on 30 June 2017 and charged with wire fraud in a Manhattan federal court related to the organisation of the Fyre Festival to promote the Fyre music booking app.

He was recently sentenced to six years in prison and branded a “serial fraudster” for the whole scheme.

Netflix’s documentary will show you why when Fyre premieres on 18 January, 2019.
