Some very good titles on the box today.

Life is all about variety, why should cinema be any different?

Well, how about films which feature magic, rich girls with a heart of gold, creepy guys obsessed with TV, killer clowns, scary monsters, and the world’s smartest man?

Yeah, that’s variety.

On that note, here’s the pick of the films on TV tonight.

Beauty and the Beast – 15:50 on ITV2

A tale as old as time, still as good as ever. A classic.

Bruce Almighty – 16:55 on Sony

Jim Carrey finds out that being God isn’t easy. D’uh!

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince -17:15 on UTV

Controversial klaxon, it’s the funniest film in the Harry Potter saga. This being said, it’s all about the backstory of one Tom Marvolo Riddle.

Clueless – 19:00 on Paramount

“Cher, get in here!” An absolute gem that never gets the credit it deserves.

The Cable Guy – 19:05 on Sony Movies

Remember the people that seriously hated Ben Stiller’s film? Well, it has aged very well.

The Devil Wears Prada – 19:50 on E4

Meryl Streep is the world’s worst boss…but she does it with aplomb.

Hanna – 21:00 on Sony

Saoirse Ronan is one of the world’s youngest assassins…but she does it with aplomb. Features a blistering soundtrack too.

End of Days – 21:00 on SyFy

Arnie vs Satan. It’s ridiculous.

Taken 3 – 21:30 on RTÉ1

The one where the director uses 15 camera cuts in 6 seconds to show Liam Neeson jumping over a fence.

They Shall Not Grow Old – 22:10 on BBC2

Peter Jackson’s excellent documentary explores the First World War, edited from rarely seen archive footage from the Western Front which has been restored and colourised, while lip readings of the men featured in the footage have allowed their speech to be reconstructed.

The Theory of Everything – 23:05 on ITV3

A really nice rom-com about Stephen Hawking’s life. Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones have excellent chemistry. It’s really nice.

Stephen King’s It – 23:30 on Paramount

“We all float down here.” Tim Curry’s performance is still very, very creepy.

The Babadook – 23:30 on SyFy

A single mother and her child fall into a deep well of paranoia when an eerie children’s book titled Mister Babadook manifests in their home. We’re fans of it.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
