Here are the 7 best movies on TV today

Some genuinely brilliant movies on the telly tonight.

Seriously.

Sit in. Get your nachos or your microwave popcorn or whatever your snack of choice is for movie night, and enjoy one or more of these.

THURSDAY 26 SEPTEMBER

Warcraft – Film4 – 6.30pm

An epic fantasy that tried to be the next Lord Of The Rings, but was a bit more like Lord Of Meh Rings. Still, it looked great and had a stellar cast, and is mostly pretty good fun.

The 40-Year-Old Virgin – ITV2 – 9pm

Steve Carrell has never had sex, and his new friends want to help him pop his cherry. It is as simple as that, but still manages to be very funny, thanks to a supporting cast that includes Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, Jonah Hill, Elizabeth Banks and Catherine Keener.

The Killing Of A Sacred Deer – Film4 – 9pm

Colin Farrell, Nicole Kidman and Barry Keoghan star in this pitch-black comedy-thriller about a family who find themselves the target of a teenager who has some nefarious designs to destroy their perfect lives from the inside out.

Timecop – Syfy – 9pm

Jean Claude van Damme is a cop who travels through time. He also kicks people in the head if they’ve been bad, so there’s that. Toss up between this and Sudden Death for the best Van Damme movie.

Jackass 3 – MTV – 10pm

People hurt themselves for 99 minutes. You’ll already know if you love this or think it is the cultural low-point for humanity.

South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut – Comedy Central – 11pm

The Oscar-nominated (yep) animated feature saw the Devil and Saddam Hussein plot to have America go to war with Canada over naughty TV? Is that right? Oh, who cares when it is this funny.

Drive – Syfy – 11pm

Ryan Gosling and one of the greatest soundtracks of all time make white leather jackets and hammers seem like the coolest things in existence.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
