An ’80s horror classic is among the movies on TV tonight

Stephen Porzio

It has one of the best final lines to a movie ever.

Staying in tonight?

Looking to relax after a hard day’s work?

Perhaps checking out a movie could help pass the time.

Here’s which films are on the telly this evening.

Mission: Impossible – Fallout – Comedy Central – 9pm

It’s not a comedy, but for my money, it is the best of the action spy franchise.

A Nightmare on Elm Street – Turner Classic Movies – 9pm

One of two horror classics from the ’80s on TV this evening, this one centres around dream demon Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) and the teenager (Heather Langenkamp) he hunts.

Ride Along – Sky Showcase – 9pm

Kevin Hart and Ice Cube are a bickering odd couple in this buddy-cop action comedy.

Chaos – Film4 – 9pm

Jason Statham and Wesley Snipes lead the cast of this middling action thriller.

Under Siege 2: Dark Territory – ITV4 – 9pm

Steven Seagal returns as ex-Navy SEAL Casey Ryback in this sequel that moves the action from a ship to a train.

I Still Know What You Did Last Summer – Horror Channel – 10.45pm

A sequel to the popular ’90s slasher I Know What You Did Last Summer.

The Lost Boys – Turner Classic Movies – 10.55pm

Our pick for tonight, this 1987 black comedy horror centres on two brothers who, after moving to a new town, discover that the area is a haven for vampires.

Along with its cast of young ’80s stars – including a mullet rocking Kiefer Sutherland – The Lost Boys boasts stylish cinematography, a killer soundtrack and one of the best last lines of any movie ever.

The Old Man & the Gun – Film4 – 11.10pm

Robert Redford’s last leading role before retiring from acting, here he plays Forrest Tucker – a real-life career criminal and prison escape artist.

The Purge: Anarchy – ITV4 – 12.10am

The second and arguably best entry in the dystopian action-horror series.

The Hallow – Horror Channel – 12.45am

In this effective chiller, a British conservationist and his family move to a remote Irish village surrounded by a large forest where they find themselves targeted by monsters.
