9 horror movie moments that shook us to the core

Check under the bed

JOE

When we watch a horror movie, we’re looking for far more than just a few simple jump-out-of-your-seat moments.

We want our heart to be racing, our skin to be crawling and moments that will leave us afraid to sleep with the light off for approximately six months.

Sinister 2 is in cinemas on August 21 and promises plenty such moments.

To get you in the mood for it, we’ve decided to put together a list of 9 horror scenes which struck us to the core.

The Ring – TV

Our favourite household item turned into a source of fear. Thanks very much…

Sinister – The children scene

A father is checking his house, while being followed by children who have been possessed by the evil Bughuul… yeah, we’re not sleeping tonight either.

The Blair Witch Project – Facing the wall

This scene is terrifying because of what you don’t see. Absolutely horrible and brilliant in equal measure.

The Exorcist – Floating

One of the most terrifying moments in movie history and one which had our heart beating out of our chests.

The Omen – Nanny hanging herself

Another classic scene that won’t be leaving our subconscious any time soon.

Misery – Hobbling

Kathy Bates’ coldness in this scene really stuck with us.

The Shining – Twins

For about six months after seeing this film, we were expecting to be challenged by the twins around every corner.

Paranormal Activity – Out of bed

If ever there was a scene that takes you out of your comfort zone, this is it.

Insidious – Bed scene

The tension builds perfectly here.

So there you have it, 9 movie moments which stuck with us. Here’s hoping for several more when we go to see Sinister 2 on August 21.
