A Love/Hate video game for the PlayStation or Xbox? Some people are trying to make it happen

Don’t get your hopes up yet folks; it’s in the very early stages.

No Irish TV show in recent memory has captivated the nation like Love/Hate.

There was a mixed reaction when it was revealed last year that there will eventually be a new season at an unknown date; joy that there will be a new season and despair that it won’t actually be this year.

A couple of budding entrepreneurs may have stumbled upon a way to fill the void in the meantime, however, having started a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter in an effort to get a video game based on the series off the ground.

According to the blurb, the game would begin at the end of the final season and revenge is very much on Nidge’s mind.

“The game begins at the final episode,” goes the plot summary.

“Nidge is found lying in a pool of blood as Patrick makes his getaway. The sound of sirens blares through the streets as the Guards race to the scene.

“Found lying face down, Nidge and Siobhan are rushed to the nearest hospital. Overcome with rage and a hunger for revenge, Nidge plans out his next steps.

“His rise to return to the top is only beginning and as Patrick and Fran race to finish the job off… Nidge isn’t going down again without a fight.”

So far so interesting, but when we say the project is in the early stages, we mean the very early stages.

The project, at the time of writing, has yet to attract a single backer or a single cent of its projected €50,000 goal and it would want to get a move on if it’s to be completed by the desired date of August 2016.

That said, the idea of Nidge and company in a computer game does sound like it would be a bit of craic.

Also, as we’ve seen with numerous titles in the past, violence is certainly not an inhibiting factor when it comes to the popularity of video games amongst the gaming community worldwide.
